The design problem/prompt was to design print and digital branding, marketing, and promotional materials for an eccentric convention called the Roswell UFO Festival. At first, I wanted to modernize the brand for this event and have everything be very neon and digital looking, but after researching I realized the UFO crash (dubbed the “big incident”) that occurred in Roswell in 1947 is heavily celebrated in the small city. There is a sense of nostalgia for the classic UFO/flying saucer. My design theme for the entire brand identity showcases the celebrated crash of the UFO and emphasizes the mystery and conspiracy behind the event.
Deliverables included: convention branding, a convention guidebook, UFO sighting trading cards, featured artist UFO posters, UFO abduction-themed embroidered iron-on patches, and a convention website.
This was a class project (spring 2020) with a 4-week timeline.
